Chile’s central bank governor says explaining price rises to public brought new challenges
The governor of the Central Bank of Chile (BCCh) has said the period of high inflation in the country from 2021 to 2023 underlined how challenging it can be to communicate monetary policy to the public.
Speaking at the Chile Day event in London on September 10, Rosanna Costa said that for a society “that had forgotten what it was like to deal with high and volatile inflation”, the period of high interest rates had been hard to comprehend.
