Opposition refuses to accept government’s nomination of former ECB official Escrivá
Spain’s two largest political parties have not managed to agree on a central bank governor to succeed Pablo Hernández de Cos.
By long-standing tradition, the largest party in the government and opposition reach consensus on who should be the Bank of Spain’s governor and deputy governor. But they have not managed to so do after Hernández de Cos stepped down on June 11 after serving a single non-renewable six-year term.
