Angola appoints deputy governor to top job

Manuel António Tiago Dias has become the new governor of the National Bank of Angola, succeeding José de Lima Massano.

Angola’s president appointed Massano minister for economic co-ordination last week, following protests against increases in fuel prices. Tiago Dias, the senior deputy governor, became interim head of the National Bank of Angola, and has now been confirmed for a full term as governor.

The president appoints the governor to a maximum of two six-year terms. The national assembly
