BIS is strengthening ties with the Americas, says Carstens

The Bank for International Settlements is strengthening its ties with the Americas as part of a broader overhaul of its strategy, general manager Agustín Carstens said on October 1.

Carstens, himself a Mexican citizen, highlighted a recent initiative to expand the BIS’s activities in the Americas. Former Central Bank of Brazil governor, Alexandre Tombini, took over as head of the office last month, and work is under way to establish a new dealing room.

There was also scope for closer ties
