IMF Managing Director welcomed Argentine Treasury Minister Nicolas Dujovne to the Fund’s headquarters Thursday (May 10) for meetings on how to best provide financial support to the South American country.
The two had a warm and cordial greeting heading in to the meetings, the second and final day of consultations by Dujovne.
“Argentina is a valued member of the International Monetary Fund. I very much welcome President Macri’s statement today and look forward to our continuing partnership with Argentina. Discussions have been initiated on how we can work together to strengthen the Argentine economy and these will be pursued in short order,” Lagarde said Wednesday ahead of the meetings.
A full statement from the IMF will be posted at the conclusion of Thursday’s meetings on IMF.org.
