The Central Bank of Hungary (MNB) has become embroiled in a public war of words with the leader of the country’s political opposition.

The MNB is investigating an unnamed number of parties for alleged insider trading. These include politicians, who had until April 22 to respond to the bank’s questions.

In a press release yesterday (April 23), the MNB said an unnamed “leader of a political party” had objected to a request for a written statement the bank had sent on March 19. The MNB said that when
