Sweden’s central bank made a profit in 2024, but not enough to allow it to make any transfers to the country’s treasury.
In its statement today (February 18), Sveriges Riksbank said it had made Skr36 million ($3.36 million) last year, but the profit had not been sufficient to ensure the bank reached its target equity level. As a consequence, its general council had decided to transfer the money to the reserve fund.
The central bank’s equity level has been a long-running issue in the country.
