Most of New Zealand’s citizens worry that introducing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) will infringe on their privacy, a consultation by the country’s central bank has found.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) began its consultation on “digital cash”, its version of a retail CBDC, in 2021. The results of the latest stage of the survey, conducted between April and July of this year, were published on December 10.
