Bank of Albania denies having ‘printed money’ to finance HQ

A report alleges that the Bank of Albania printed €30 million ($33.4 million) outright to purchase and renovate a new office in 2010.

The report, by investigative news outlet Balkan Insight, references a leaked classified document from the Albania supreme state audit body. It says that the central bank had used monetary issuance to fund the purchase and renovation of Hotel Dajti, a 1940s-era landmark in the capital Tirana.
