Luxembourg governor becomes victim of deepfake attack

Gaston Reinesch, governor of the Central Bank of Luxembourg, has been targeted by a deepfake video that advertises a get-rich-quick scheme, the central bank said on June 26.

The video shows journalist Mariette Zenners from television network RTL describe an “important project” from the central bank. Viewers are told that they could earn a minimum of €7,000 ($7,478) per week without extensive financial or investment-related knowledge.
