Argentina’s Milei struggles to find central bank governor

Argentina’s president-elect, Javier Milei, is struggling to find a new governor for the Central Bank of Argentina.

Emilio Ocampo, professor of economic history and former investment banker, was expected to take the helm of the BCRA after Milei’s inauguration on December 10.

However, people close to him confirmed to Argentinian media on November 23 that he will not accept the position. Ocampo (along with Milei) champions the dollarisation of Argentina’s economy as the only solution to tame
