Ghana opposition demands governor resign

A leading opposition politician in Ghana has threatened to march on the central bank if governor Ernest Addison does not resign.

The demand followed the Bank of Ghana’s publication of its 2022 financial statements, which showed it had incurred losses of 60.8 billion cedis ($5.4 billion). The central bank said about four-fifths of these losses derived from a domestic debt restructuring, which involved a 50% haircut on some government bonds.
