Bank of Canada consults public on CBDC design

The Bank of Canada has invited the public to share their views on possible design features of a digital Canadian dollar.

A consultation launched on May 8 asks Canadians how they would use a hypothetical central bank digital currency (CBDC), what security features are important, and whether they have concerns over accessibility and privacy.

Despite its effort to solicit views, “at this time, a digital Canadian dollar is not needed”, the Bank of Canada said. Instead it aims to prepare design
