Peter Kažimír: calls for resignation
Slovak authorities have called on central bank governor Peter Kažimír to resign, following his conviction for bribery by the country’s special criminal court on April 13.
The court sentenced Kažimír to either serve two years in jail or pay €100,000 ($111,000). The prosecutor in the case appealed against the sentence, meaning it will go to a further trial.
Kažimír proclaimed his innocence in a statement. “Despite the criminal warrant, which has not even been delivered to me yet, I am innocent,”
