Israel, Norway and Sweden to link CBDCs in BIS project

Israel, Norway and Sweden will test linking their domestic central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) in a project co-ordinated with the Bank for International Settlements.

The Bank of Israel, Central Bank of Norway and Sveriges Riksbank will connect their prototype CBDC systems, the BIS announced on September 28.

Project Icebreaker will test the feasibility of using CBDCs for immediate cross-border retail and remittance payments. It will run until the end of the year and the BIS said it expected
