China: The Chinese government appointed Zhang Qingsong deputy governor of the People’s Bank of China on September 6. Zhang was serving as president of the Agricultural Bank of China, a state-owned bank that is among China’s largest.
Zhang succeeds Lui Guiping, who left in April to become deputy mayor of Tianjin, a city with provincial status. He was previously a vice-president of the Bank of China, another leading bank, and president of the Export-Import Bank of China.
