
Powell gets second term, Brainard becomes vice-chair
The US Senate voted 80-19 on May 12 to confirm Jerome Powell for a second four-year term as the chair of the Federal Reserve. President Joe Biden had nominated Powell for a second term in November 2021, with Lael Brainard his candidate for vice-chair. The Senate confirmed Brainard, 52 votes to 43, on April 26.
