ING Bank today announced the appointment of Anand Sachdev as branch manager of ING Singapore effective 21 June 2022. He will report to Anju Abrol, head of Wholesale Banking APAC.

Anand succeeds Erwin Maspolim, who, given our APAC growth ambitions, will take on the responsibility of covering Indonesia and Vietnam as head of Southeast Asia – Representative Offices effective June 21. Erwin will continue to report to Anju.

Anand (40) joins ING from Westpac Banking Corporation where he was Westpac’s CEO for Singapore and Chief Operating Officer for Asia since 2017.

Anand joined the Australian lender in Sydney in 2005 and has since accumulated over 17 years of experience by taking on increasingly senior roles across Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. In 2013, he relocated to Singapore to support Westpac’s growth in the region.

“Anand’s solid experience and track record will strengthen our capabilities and support for our APAC growth strategy,” said Anju.

Singapore is the Asia Pacific headquarters for ING and the branch has about 600 employees. In the Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

In his new role, Erwin will be able to focus on strategically defining and growing ING’s profile in Vietnam and Indonesia. He will additionally be involved in providing guidance and oversight on any businesses in other Southeast Asian markets where ING is not present on the ground.

Erwin has over 25 years of experience in front office leading corporate and project finance covering multiple sectors such as power, utilities, renewables, water, waste, technology, media & telecommunications, healthcare and infrastructure across APAC.
