BoE moves to renewable energy

The Bank of England has announced that all its electricity and natural gas will come from renewable sources from this month onwards.

In a statement on Twitter, the BoE said the decision was part of its strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. During 2018–19 the BoE’s total emissions of CO2e per full-time equivalent staff member was 4.7 tonnes. 

CO2e, or carbon dioxide equivalent, is a standard unit for measuring carbon footprints. It is used to express the impact of each different greenhouse
