02/11/2021 – Ensuring that multinational enterprises pay their fair share of tax is a growing concern worldwide. Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) – a joint initiative of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – has been working with developing countries since 2012 to improve auditing and tax compliance.
TIWB will release its 2021 Annual Report on Tuesday, 9 November 2021 at 11:00 CET.
The report will be presented by TIWB’s Governing Board Co-Chairs, Mr. Mathias Cormann (Secretary-General, OECD) and Mr. Achim Steiner (Administrator, UNDP), during a high-level panel entitled “Tax Inspectors Without Borders: Tackling Tax Avoidance and Evasion in the Post-Pandemic Era”. This virtual event is open to the public contingent on pre-registration. Interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
The event will provide the opportunity to engage with government ministers and senior officials on how TIWB continued operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will also focus on how TIWB programmes can support governments with innovative tax tools, address illicit financial flows, adjust to the new international tax rules, and make the best use of South-South expertise. Moreover, the panel will explore TIWB’s expanded mandate of assistance in the areas of criminal tax investigations, effective use of automatically exchanged information, natural resource contracts, taxation and the environment.
The Annual Report covers TIWB activity from July 2020 to June 2021 — TIWB’s fifth full year of operations under the OECD/UNDP partnership arrangements.
Journalists can request an advance copy of TIWB’s 2021 Annual Report under embargo, a day before its release, by emailing the TIWB Secretariat.
