Elected representatives lead the path towards digital sovereignty – DIGITAL SME General Assembly 2021

Elected representatives lead the path towards digital sovereignty - DIGITAL SME General Assembly 2021

  • Dr Oliver Grün confirmed for a third mandate as President of the European DIGITAL SME Alliance, championing the rights of ICT SMEs across Europe.

  • DIGITAL SME congratulates Amandine Laveau Zimmerle, Fabio Massimo, José Luis Pancorbo, George Brashnarov and Mark Jordan on their respective elections as Vice-Presidents.

The European DIGITAL SME Alliance, the largest network of ICT small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Europe, representing more than 45,000 digital SMEs across the EU, held its General Assembly on 27 October.

DIGITAL SME is pleased to announce the election of Dr Oliver Grün as President of the Alliance. Founder and CEO of the digital company GRÜN Software AG, Dr Grün is also President of the German Federation of IT SMEs (BITMi).

At this year’s General Assembly, DIGITAL SME released a white paper on digital sovereignty. On this topic, our President said: “Digital Sovereignty is not only the ability to use digitalisation in a self-determined manner. It is about shaping the digitalisation: we need our own European IP and own products”. Dr Grün further explained that it is “not just about key technologies, but it encompasses a wider area, like the B2B area which is the backbone of the prosperity that we have in Europe, so we must shape digital sovereignty by ourselves”.

The Alliance is the joint effort of 30 national and regional SME associations from EU member states and neighbouring countries to put digital SMEs at the centre of the EU agenda. It promotes the development of ICT across Europe, the exchange of knowledge and experiences in enterprises and business opportunities.

We would like to congratulate Amandine Laveau Zimmerle, Fabio Massimo, José Luis Pancorbo and George Brashnarov on their respective elections as Vice-Presidents.

The Board consists of the following representatives:

1. Oliver Grün from BITMi (President)

2. Amandine Laveau Zimmerle from DIGITAL SME France  (Vice-President for France and Treasurer)

3. Fabio Massimo from CNA (Vice-President for Italy)

4. José Luis Pancorbo from CONETIC (Vice-President for Spain)

5. George Brashnarov from BASSCOM (Vice-President for Bulgaria)

6. Mark Jordan from Skillnet Ireland (Vice-President for Ireland)
